Nuevos medios y política digital: El caso de las primarias presidenciales chilenas de 2013

Abstract

This chapter explores the use of Twitter in digital campaigns. For this, the Chilean primary presidential elections of June 2013 are used as a case study. A dataset of messages emitted by presidential pre-candidates is analysed. In so doing this, data mining, sentiment analysis and statistical models are used. These techniques allow to obtain a landscape of the network activity, as well as identifying message replication mechanisms, which underlying in the virtual interaction.
